Government Dock

The pier on the island's northeast shore built to serve Fort Levett — men, coal, ordnance and stores all came ashore here. It remains a named, standing dock and the island's landing on the harbour side, with the fire station, the old coal shed and the quartermaster buildings a short walk inland.

• The approach road runs straight from the pier head into the fort's service yard — a supply line, not a scenic route.
• The Coal Shed and QM Storehouse stand within a few hundred metres uphill.
• Cunner Rock lies offshore to the northeast; it marks the edge of the deep water that made this side the landing side.
