Summary
Married Sarah Mitton, Michael's daughter. Held the island 1667–1698 and used Levett's old fortified house as a garrison. In this period the island was renamed successively Portland Island, Andrews Island, and finally Fort Island.

Sargent quotes the 1731 deposition of James Ross, aged 70: 'Mr. Andross had a Garrisoned House on the Island and lived there as he was informed as his own proper estate.' Levett's original house and fortification were destroyed during the widening Indian wars that followed the outbreak in the summer of 1675. Andrews abandoned Falmouth in the first war and died at Boston in 1704.
